I’ve met a lot of interesting people during my time here on the internet.
Some are interesting, in the awesome kind of way.
Others are more…meh.
My friend Khristi definitely falls into the former category.
She helps sick animals get better, which is the first reason I fell in love with her. And, after getting to know her better, I was happy to discover my feelings about her were right on. She’s kind, funny, and talented.
No, this is not my coming out post.
It’s a giveaway!
I spotted some earrings Khristi made on my Facebook feed several months ago, and I loved them.
They were made with feathers from her one year old hen, donated during her first molt. Since the hen is somewhat of an arteest, she was totally on board and was all PLEASE USE MY FEATHERS.
I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on them, and wear them with just about everything.

I have never celebrated Valentine’s Day because, if you are single, it is set up to make you feel worthless, and if you are in a relationship it puts a ridiculous amount of pressure on people to make the perfect night. I like doing little things for the person I love all year instead of trying to make up for it on that one day.

My anniversary is a few days before, so we celebrate our day and then just do a few little things with kids on 14th. I am pretty meh about Valentine’s Day. I get some vday crap for my kids and some candy and call it a day. Although this year I am trying to be crafty and make the vday cards my kids are supposed to pass out in class but then I will probably end up in the fetal position rocking back and forth while shoving candy in my face.

I have a love/hate relationship with Valentine’s Day.
I hate that there is a designated on a calendar, basically obligating us to tell our loved ones that we love them, when we should already be doing that with our words and actions.
Oh, and I love Valentine’s Day because of the chocolate covered strawberries and flowers!
